Hopin has been widely utilized by users to produce and execute a diverse range of events, including large multiday conferences, 1-hour internal meetings, workshops, publicity events, and conventions. Users appreciate the platform's ease of use for both fully virtual and hybrid events. Unlike streaming events on YouTube or Facebook, Hopin offers greater control and transparency in identifying attendees. The expo areas and networking features of Hopin are highly valued by users, providing a more engaging online atmosphere compared to simple Zoom webinars. Additionally, the platform's reporting capabilities have been helpful in verifying continuing education requirements for medical and professional association conferences. Hopin excels at solving the problem of fragmented tech stacks for events by offering a comprehensive set of event features in one integrated package, eliminating the need for multiple tools and platforms. With its advanced email marketing features, replay area for missed presentations, and customizable registration page designer, Hopin has further enhanced its appeal to users. Whether it's facilitating the transition from offline to digital events or providing a virtual element to physical events in industries such as construction and real estate, Hopin has proven effective in delivering high-quality online experiences. Users have successfully utilized Hopin for various types of events including global alumni summits, leadership training programs, periodic conversations, sustainability festivals, and user conferences. The platform's features and integrations enable the organization of fully-featured digital conferences with good production values. Hopin is also praised for its networking feature which allows virtual conference attendees to connect and interact with each other. The addition of the backend broadcast studio StreamYard has made transmission and recording of event content seamless. Furthermore, Hopin is used by marketing teams to host large virtual conferences while other departments utilize it for webinars and similar events. In summary, Hopin's versatility and user-friendliness make it a valuable tool for hosting a wide range of virtual and hybrid events with excellent engagement and successful outcomes.

Clean and Customizable Interface: Hopin's interface is highly praised by users for its cleanliness and customization options. Reviewers appreciate the ease of navigation and personalization, which sets Hopin apart from other solutions.

Constant Improvement and Updates: Users have noticed that Hopin is constantly improving and updating its platform. Several sticking points that existed in the past have been addressed and resolved, leading to a smoother experience for them.

Integration of StreamYard: The integration of StreamYard into the Hopin platform has received high praise from users. They find StreamYard to be a powerful and user-friendly live studio solution that enhances the overall capabilities of Hopin.

Pricing Model: Users have expressed frustration with Hopin's pricing model, with several reviewers stating that it charges based on the number of registrants rather than the number of attendees. This has led to a need for workarounds and limited the use of certain tools, especially for free events.

Streaming Quality: There are complaints about the streaming quality on Hopin, with multiple users stating that it doesn't perform as well as YouTube or Facebook, particularly with weaker viewer connections. Many users have reported issues with the video feed stopping and starting.

Lack of Mobile Optimization: Some users have reported difficulties with mobile devices, stating that Hopin doesn't work well with tablets or smartphones for onscreen guests. This limitation has been mentioned by a significant number of reviewers.

Based on user reviews, here are the three most common recommendations for Hopin:

  1. Users advise testing the platform and attending an event on Hopin to get familiar with its features as both a host and attendee.

  2. Thorough planning and preparation for virtual events on Hopin is strongly recommended, including dress/tech rehearsals, support for presenters and exhibitors, and running test events with speakers.

  3. Exploring customization options on Hopin to create a unique event experience is highly recommended. Users also suggest seeking advice from those who have used Hopin before and consider hiring a virtual event consultant for guidance.

(Note: Attendify is mentioned in one recommendation but does not appear frequently enough to be considered one of the three most common recommendations.)

We use the product for our monthly virtual events. So far, it's the best platform we could find on the market.
Sometimes the platform has technical issues, which are pretty difficult to be detected and fixed. This can be disappointing for our users.
The communication with Hopin account manager is nice, we touch base regularly.
However, their customer service failed on understanding an issue we explained during an event.
  • Live stream
  • Networking option
  • Integrations
  • Ticket sales - they don't provide an invoice with details to clients (most of them are corporate)
  • High prices
  • Technical issues during events
Well suited for pre-recorded and live session. Also for polls
Less appropriate for networking and for selling tickets.

We use Hopin to hold digital events which allow us to reach audiences traditionally on the periphery of our organization.
  • Post-event analytics
  • Streamyard studio for production quality
  • Customer Service
  • The registration system is still confusing to set up and about creating/not needing to create a Hopin account for any event
It is well-suited when you need to present data/analytics to sponsors or presenters about interaction during an online event. It is well-suited for an overall professional online event experience because it so nicely ties together sessions, expo, and networking in a simple UI.

Virtual conferences with main stages and expo booths. It has helped us create a community feel in the virtual world.
  • Easy to use from the presenter standpoint
  • Easy to set up events
  • Easy for attendees to navigate
  • Attendees seem to have a hard time accessing login easily at start of event
  • Wish call to action on Expo page was not linked to main web address. That is limiting for our vendors
  • Would like more gamification to drive attendance to expo booths. Like a game or scavenger hunt built in.
I think it is well suited for virtual events. It is needed less as we move back into in-person events.

I support other companies and government offices with hosting events, and we use Hopin as our platform.
  • Vendors can set up and preview their own booths
  • Networking feature is what sets Hopin apart
  • I like the video conferencing and I'm glad it's not in a "fake world"
  • I'm glad to see accessibility being prioritized
  • Integrations are super helfpul
  • too much clicking in the set up process
  • I want to be able to do more things in a bulk edit scenario
  • ticketing has improved
I want Hopin to make it easier to keep track of attendees and see how often they attend a variety of things. I want to be able to measure community engagement and prioritize community as a whole and not just one-off events.

We participate in an annual virtual conference and needed a solid platform to stream our program, for distribution to our clients. It had to be simple to use for us and our clients, no tech nightmares, and affordable. We did a fair amount of research, and Hopin checked off all the boxes we needed to get the job done.
  • The conference interface is simple, yet gives the features that add value.
  • Customer service and tech support is fast and efficient.
  • They are aggressively improving the product.
  • It's quality at an attractive price.
  • In 2022, I plan to use more of the features. For now, it covers me with no complaints.
  • The only issue I have is a small glitch. When setting up the date and time of an event, sometimes the system tells me that what I'm asking for is in the past. Maybe it's a timezone thing. Hopin support gave me the workaround. I set the date/time well into the future, and once the event is set up, I simply change the date/time to what I want. It was a 15-second fix. Other than this, these guys make it easy-peasy to do the tech setup for events.
There are huge event producers who require massive technical setups, and perhaps Hopin wouldn't fit the bill for them. I'm not sure. I've been an attendee of an event with some 6,000 active participants, and Hopin's infrastructure held up well. For people who don't have a technical staff to deal with all the details of putting together an event, Hopin is the answer for me.

We use Hopin for most of our virtual events. We also used it for a few hybrid events, and we plan to use it further in this field. We believe that hybrid events are going to be used more and more in the future and that Hopin is the most advanced and agile platform in the market.
  • Its customer support is amazing
  • It is very agile and develops its platform monthly
  • It's extremely stable and easy to use and access
  • The German translation is not really the best
  • The pricing model is challenging
Hopin is well suited for every kind of virtual or hybrid event. It is best to host larger events, so it is not really useful for smaller virtual events like webinars.

We use Hopin to stream some of our larger virtual events where we may have multiple speakers in multiple rooms at the same time. We like this platform over using YouTube or Facebook to stream because we have more control and more transparency into who our attendees are. Other features we enjoy are the expo areas and networking areas of the platform.
  • The interface is very clean and customizable. Some of the other solutions I've looked into are not as easy to customize or have a "clunky" interface.
  • Hopin is always improving. Several sticking points for us that existed 3 months ago have been updated and improved so they are no longer issues for us.
  • Hopin has acquired the platform StreamYard, which is a very powerful and simple live studio solution, and they have actively integrated StreamYard into the Hopin platform.
  • Hopin charges based on number of "registrants" rather than number of "attendees." This has forced us to use a workaround method and not allowed us to use all of the tools available because, especially if we're holding a free event, we don't want to pay for a lot of registrants when only a percentage of them will actually attend the event.
  • The streaming quality is great, but it doesn't perform as well as YouTube or Facebook with weaker viewer connections. We receive many more complaints about the video feed stopping and starting than when we broadcast through YouTube or Facebook. Hopin does give us the ability to use YouTube as the source of the video stream, but that comes with its own set of problems, where users may click on the YouTube branding and be directed to watch on YouTube, outside of the Hopin platform.
  • Some additional options would be nice, such as being able to disable anonymous viewer comments/questions would be helpful.
  • The software is very expensive. It comes with a 5-figure yearly license fee plus cost per registrant fee referenced above.
Hopin is quite expensive if you're holding a larger event with over 1000 registrants, and you want multiple stages. It's not suited for all budgets. It seems more appropriate for a paid virtual event, but large free events, especially since they charge per registrant instead of per attendee, Hopin may not be well suited for.

In November 2019 I began using Hopin as a solution for virtual and hybrid workshops, publicity events, and conventions. While we do incorporate other tools, Hopin has consistently escalated its capabilities, making it central to all our efforts. From the outset Hopin distinguished itself by hosting so many event features under one roof; while our peers are still using an amalgamation of Zoom, Discord, live streams on YouTube/Facebook/Instagram, and all sorts of other platforms in a confusing approach to offer virtual vendor space, conference rooms, networking areas, and keynote addresses, Hopin provided all this in one easy, integrated package from the beginning. Moreover, we've found Hopin easily scales from intimate book launches and intensive classes all the way up to our multi-track academic conferences. Hopin's recent addition of a registration page designer, replay area for attendees who missed live presentations, and advanced email marketing features really cinches it. Even with Hopin's growing reputation, it's clear people don't fully grasp what Hopin gives them--a single vendor booth in the expo area has as much or more functionality than many other entire platforms. Add in the RTMP streaming and high-quality recordings that can be repurposed, and I find no downsides.
  • The broadcast-quality video and audio in Hopin are sorely missed when we try using other platforms.
  • The Sessions area for unlimited simultaneous live or recorded roundtable discussions, demos, viewing parties, pitch sessions, games, interviews, etc., literally makes or breaks an event for us. The attendees love it!
  • Hopin's team delivers product updates seemingly weekly. I couldn't be happier about how the product has grown and allowed us to better serve our audience, with new features and integrations.
  • The biggest hangup we've encountered is from guest speakers who need to join us on either tablets or smartphones. Hopin doesn't play well with mobile devices for onscreen guests.
  • I'd like to see the broadcasts in vendor booths be recordable in the way broadcasts in the sessions or on the stage are.
If you need to throw together an event, webinar, or Livestream at the last minute in a quick and dirty fashion, Hopin isn't the best, maybe. Due to all the features, I've mentioned there is a lot to build out if you want to keep things looking top-tier. The platform allows you to do stripped-down events without all the bells and whistles, though. While we've had great success with smaller classes, book launches, interviews, and such, Hopin shines more the bigger you go with your event. Multi-track conferences with international guests? No problem. Best of all is the amount of social interaction possible on Hopin in comparison to other platforms.

Our Marketing department has been using Hopin for the past year to host digital events in place of the in-person events we couldn't hold during the pandemic. It allows us to quickly create engaging virtual experiences for our customers and prospects consistent with our brand and goals. While initially we had some trouble with the platform and getting events just as we liked them, the addition of the backstage environment that was recently upgraded has made directing and managing all sources of video and audio much easier.
  • Virtual events
  • Backstage management
  • Branding
  • Training for platform use
  • Number of seats available backstage
  • Additional interactive elements
If you are trying to host digital events with a few presenters/video sources, Hopin can work for you. The user experience is easy to navigate and fun. However, it might not be appropriate if you have many presenters, or if you need to queue those presenters with audio. No matter what - I recommend you always do a run-through before the event!

We utilize Hopin to host virtual and hybrid user conferences for our company. This virtual platform allows for [...] podium-style presentations [and] interactive panel discussions, expo hall, networking breaks, meeting connections, polls, and other functionalities, which make the online atmosphere for our events much more engaging than a simple zoom webinar. Their backend broadcast studio, StreamYard, allows for easy transmission and recording of all of the content, which can be simulcast to make channels with the simple press of a button.
  • Hopin constantly is iterating to create a really user-friendly back-end system. As a company, it recognizes that event managers are being faced with the challenge of becoming virtual production technicians and mak[ing] that change easier to manage.
  • Hopin's back-end studio broadcast system makes it easy to create a seamless stream between pre-recorded and live presentations, with additional branding assets to make the overall stream look more professional and put together.
  • Hopin's networking and polling functionalities create great engagement within the platform that is measurable.
  • Hopin's ability to integrate with Salesforce and Marketo makes the lead flow process automatic and saves Event Managers from having to transfer that data manually.
  • Hopin's first version of their registration pages [was] a bit clunky, they were not as customizable as we would have liked to have seen, and the attendee registration journey was confusing at best - especially if you had added custom registration questions. This has been rectified by their integration with Canva.
  • Hopin and its back-end broadcasting studio (StreamYard) are still functioning as individual companies, which can create a little confusion when trying to switch back and forth between the platform. But it is my understanding that the future state will look much different, and the two companies will function as one platform.
Hopin is well suited for larger events where a simple zoom call would not suffice - things like hosted webinars, user conferences, large company updates, and virtual tradeshows. It is great in the hybrid space, as it creates a communal communication space for both online and in-person attendees.

The events department utilizes the platform to promote and execute external events hosted by our company. If any department needs to host a webinar, event, or something similar, they come to the events department to utilize Hopin.
  • The data and reporting, both pre, live, and post-event, is incredibly detailed and customized.
  • The event chat, stage chat, booth chat, and networking capabilities make virtual events extremely interactive for attendees!
  • Streaming live events with StreamYard is very simple, with a great user interface for people in the backstage and producing area.
  • The customizing capability of their landing pages and event is extensive but difficult to do without a background in design. Although designed to be user-friendly, it still takes a large investment of time and learning to do well.
  • The registrant join flow for their embedded registration form is lengthy and clunky. Thankfully if you utilize one of their many automation integrations, this isn't a necessary function.
The data and analytics provided [are] unlike any other virtual event platform I've used or seen - it's extremely helpful when making data-driven decisions. Hopin thrives as a virtual event hosting platform specifically on replicating an interactive experience that typically lacks in virtual realms.

Hopin is a great Virtual Event Platform. We have been using Hopin for streaming our virtual events happening on a larger scale where we have different speakers in different rooms at the same time. We have been loving our experience with Hopin so far because we now have more control and even more transparency into who actual attendees are than we used to have before.
  • Hopin is providing support for video networking and real-time participation which is the great thing about Hopin.
  • Hopin has many advantages like it has a user-friendly interface that is intuitive as well. It's very clean and customizable as well.
  • Hopin also has really good and experienced training resources exclusively for the software users to keep their attendees aware and familiar with the use of Hopin.
  • Moving to the cons and disadvantages of Hopin. Hopin has a great streaming quality but still in spite of that Hopin does not perform as well as with YouTube and even Facebook.
  • This is because we do get complaints many times about the weaker viewer connections.
  • Moreover, Hopin does not allow its customers as of yet to upload their pre-recorded videos which I really think they should do because it will improve the overall experience of the users.
Altogether, as a user, I have been really satisfied with the overall experience of Hopin because it is a smart yet sophisticated platform when it comes to hosting virtual conferences on a large scale in a successful manner. One thing that people should keep in mind is that Hopin is a little expensive but good things come with a price tag too so if it fits in your budget then this is a great platform to get associated with.

Our company bought a one-year subscription to Hopin to use as our platform for hosting several annual, multi-day conferences. (Typically these are in-person conferences, but due to COVID, we've had to pivot to hosting the conferences virtually.) We have used Hopin for one of those conferences so far, very successfully. We plan to use it again for at least two more conferences before our one-year subscription term is over. Many members of our team, across several departments, participate in putting on these conferences; the one we just hosted had 400 attendees--mainly our clients, partners, prospects and our own team members. Twenty members of our team and I used the Hopin tools directly, to put on the conference.
  • A fairly intuitive interface, including side-by-side video and chat windows, with a "main event" video window for plenary sessions (e.g., keynotes) as well as separate breakout rooms (with running chat) for post-session, interactive Q&As with attendees, plus a separate area for virtual "exhibit booths."
  • Responsive customer service, including a Hopin staffer who was on call during our event to troubleshoot if needed
  • Regular updates to continuously improve the platform
  • Good training resources (e.g., orientation videos) for software users and conference attendees unfamiliar with using Hopin.
  • Other built-in features that we did not use, but appreciated that they were available were a speaker's lounge (greenroom for speakers who were on deck to speak next) and a sort of private channel (similar to Slack) for the conference hosts to use for behind-the-scenes coordination (we just used our own Slack channel for this).
  • Hopin should allow customers to upload pre-recorded videos to the platform (hosted by Hopin), for use during the conference. As it stands now, customers must provide their own external video hosting solution (we used Vimeo).
  • Hopin should have some customer support staff based in the USA or Canada, too--not just in the UK.
  • In view of the substantial cost of subscribing to Hopin, it seems as if the number of registrants allowed under the subscription without incurring overage fees should be somewhat higher than 1,000 registrants. (We anticipate going over that limit before our yearly subscription term is over.)
Hopin is a smart and sophisticated platform for hosting successful virtual conferences that have many moving parts. We plan to continue using it, at least until the pandemic is over. We probably will not bother using Hopin for our standard webinars because we use our own (Engaging Networks) events module for webinar registration, and we can use the Zoom platform pretty effectively for the actual webinar. But we will use Hopin again for the other three or four conferences that we will host in the coming months.

We used Hopin this year to hold our very first virtual conference. We typically hold a live/in-person conference every year in Las Vegas and due to the pandemic, we had to cancel our conference. This was bad news for us as that's where 50% of our revenue comes from. Instead of giving up and canceling our conference, we did some research and found Hopin and after seeing all the great features it offered we decided we would hold our conference virtually. Rather than holding a basic Zoom type event, Hopin allowed us to actually make our virtual conference very much like our in-person conference. Skip ahead, we received rave reviews about our event and our attendees love the Hopin platform and all of its abilities, especially the networking feature. Hopin solved all our issues and we will be hopefully incorporating it into next year's in-person conference so we can reach both audiences.
  • Hopin was very simple to use from the start. If I had any questions, they had answers on their website and their support is great.
  • I like that we could make changes on a regular basis even during the live event.
  • I like that it incorporates a lot of what you find at a in-person event and it translates well virtually.
  • Would love to see a virtual store. Us as well as many of our speakers have products and services to sell. It would be nice to have a dedicated store to promote these things. Products and details could be added and just link out to wherever the products are sold.
  • An are for the days announcements would be nice rather than pinning comments. Kind of like an event bulletin board.
  • Allow more people to come on camera in a session.
  • Record sessions that have more than 9 people on camera.
  • I wish there was a way to register our presenters without them having to register like an attendee via tickets.
I think Hopin is great for most scenarios. We held a conference for 420 people and it was pretty much perfect for a large conference-style event. I could see it being used for smaller paid webinars, virtual corporate events to bring teams or employees together, lunch and learns, and more. If you're creative enough, the possibilities are endless.
